Middlebury College collection of miscellaneous photographs

 Collection
Identifier: C-158

Scope and Contents

Approximately 45 black and white photographs (mostly cabinet cards) of various individuals taken during the late 19th century through the early 20th century. Most photographs are studio portraits of unidentified subjects and are undated. A number of the studio portraits were taken in studios in New England, primarily in Maine and Massachusetts.

Individuals identified in the photographs include Alice Ethel Loynes of Springfield, Massachusetts. The photograph of Loynes appears to be a graduation photo, as it is marked "Class of 1900." Other individuals include Laura May Parsons, Harry P. Place (1880), Nellie, William, Willie, and Robert McCandless, Margie Littlehale Thompson, Mary Kirby Tozier, S.R. Bollow [?], and Dr. William Hubbard. Also included are two photographs of headstones for Geroge F. Wheeler (1825-1885) and his wife Eliza Lewis (b. 1824), and Reverend C. Fales (1804-1882) and his wife Irene Willey (1809-1873).
