This collection contains over 10,000 photographs taken by Benjy Renton during his time at Middlebury. Renton's photographs include on-campus events such as the Justice for Breonna Taylor protest, MiddView Orientation, scenes from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Evolution Dance Crew performances, the Winter Carnival Ice Show, the International Students' Organization (ISO) Food Festival, Winter Carnival, the Blackout Protest in support of higher wages for staff, the M Gallery student print fair, Homecoming Harvest Festival, the Knoll Harvest Festival, the Middlebury Climate Strike, Student Activities Fair, a capella performances, MiddView Trips Prep Rally, the Chinese Culture Show, the Narrative Journalism Fellowship Showcase, Middlebury Relay for Life, Nocturne Arts Festival, the EcoFair, Middlebury Preview Days, the Spring Student Symposium, the Asian Spring Barbecue, 350VT Next Steps Climate Walk, the SheFly launch party, lectures, snow sculptures, the Spencer Prize, Fall Family Weekend, the Proctor Walkout (2018), the First Year Show; sporting events such as field hockey, rugby, football, volleyball, lacrosse, track and field, crew, cross country, skiing, cycling, soccer, and Quadball (formerly Quidditch); events held in and around the town of Middlebury, Vermont including the Middlebury farmers' market, Spooktacular, the Midd Night Stroll, the Middlebury Maple Run, the MALT (Middlebury Area Land Trust) TAM (Trail Around Middlebury) Trek, the Shoreham Apple Festival, the Addison County CROP Hunger Walk, the Middlebury Bridge and Rail Opening, a Bernie Sanders rally in Essex Junction, Vermont, Very Merry Middlebury, a community forum with Peter Welch, the Middlebury Hannaford Milk with Dignity protest, the Addison County School District school protest, and the Addison County Legislative Breakfast with Governor Phil Scott.

Biographical / Historical

Benjamin "Benjy" Renton, Class of 2021, served as Digital Director of the Middlebury Campus newspaper during his time at Middlebury. He also served as local editor, sports editor, arts and science editor, features editor, and staff writer for The Campus. Renton studied East Asian Studies and Geography at Middlebury.
