Biographical / Historical
Leonard Baskin (1922-2000) was an American artist and writer. He attended Yale Art School and became inspired by the work of William Blake to create his own books. Baskin founded the Gehanna Press in 1942 and printed works that were illustrated with woodcuts, etchings, and lithographs. He taught art at Smith College and Hampshire College. Baskin also collaborated with Ted Hughes on a number of projects.
