Biographical / Historical
Gertrude May (Bittle) Murray (1918-2013) was born to William M. and Martha (Williams) Bittle in Haskell, New Jersey, and graduated from Middlebury College in 1939. Murray worked as a teacher from 1939 to 1941, before becoming a homemaker. She married Thomas N. Murray in 1941 and had two children: Katherine and Martha.
