Scope and Contents
Digital video file containing "Unprecedented Times," a documentary produced by Dan Levesque, Class of 2021.5 during the summer of 2020. The film documents the experience of the Middlebury College community during the COVID-19 pandemic and features interviews with Middlebury students, faculty, administration, staff, and community members. The film also contains reactions to the murder of George Floyd by Police in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020 and footage from protests that followed.
Subjects discussed during the documentary include Middlebury Schools Abroad at the beginning of the pandemic and the decision to evacuate Middlebury students to the United States; Middlebury students in China and Italy during the COVID-19 pandemic; reactions to the Trump administration's pandemic response; Middlebury's virtual commencement ceremony; student response to the campus evacuation order in March, 2020; the college's "box, label, leave" plan for student possessions; Middlebury, Vermont's COVID-19 response; Middlebury health workers and hospitals; stories told by local community members who recovered from COVID-19; Middlebury, Vermont businesses during COVID-19; the American Association of University Professors at Middlebury; and remote learning;
