Biographical / Historical
Egbert Charles Hadley (1888-1981) was the son of Harry Clifton and Carrie Augusta (Starr) Hadley. Hadley was a member of the Middlebury College class of 1910 and attended Harvard University (1910-1911) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1911-1914) for graduate school. He received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Middlebury in 1968. Hadley served on the Middlebury College Board of Trustees from 1936 to 1968, and acted as Chair from 1944 to 1968. Hadley married Marjorie Finch in 1917. They had one child: Egbert Starr.
