Ruth Ritchie (Wheaton) Evans (1922-) was born to Sidney L. and Fannie (Rexford) Wheaton in Winsted, Connecticut, and graduated from Middlebury College in 1944. She studied journalism at Brown University in 1945 and married Charles A. Evans in 1944. The couple had one child: Rexford W.
