Biographical / Historical
Ruth Mercer (Brown) Ells-Crane (1913-) was born to Raymond Nelson and Mabel (Mercer) Brown in Ashland, Wisconsin, and graduated from Middlebury College in 1934. Throughout her life, Ells-Crane worked as a dietician. She married Jonathan F. Ells in 1939 and the couple had three children: Dorothea Ells, Janis B., and Warren F. She later married Homer Crane in 1989.
