Class of 1928 Grant G. Lavery scrapbook, 1924-1928
Scope and Contents
The scrapbooks covers Lavery's high school graduation and his four years at Middlebury College, 1924-1928. It includes photographs of students and campus, song lyrics, athletic records (primarily football), academic records, a high school commencement program, programs and tickets from plays (Wig and Pen), musical performances, and sporting events, as well as from Junior Week, the Parker Merrill speech competition, and Middlebury College Debate Team competitions, membership cards (Dramatic Club, Undergraduate Association), newspaper clippings, reciepts, and articles of clothing (hat and necktie). The scrapbook also contains a complete copy of the Middlebury Campus, dated May 30, 1928, and several issues of the Middlebury Flunkus, in addition to a Hamilton College spring sports program from 1924 and materials (constitution, et cetera) pertaining to the Middlebury College Athletic Council. Finally, the scrapbook contains handwritten notes on students, professors, clubs, plays and other events, professors, social functions, and trips, as well as Lavery's doodles.

Biographical / Historical
From the Middlebury College General Catalog, 1950: Son of Adelbert A. and Lillian (Garnsey) Lavery. Born in Ballston Spa, NY, Dec. 20, 1906. Prepared for college at Mechanicsville, NY High School. Entered Middlebury College in 1924. Graduated with a BS in 1928 and earned an MA in 1930 at the University of Maine. Technician, Bell Telephone Co. Laboratories, NY, 1930-. Married Beatrice A. Hoskins, June 17, 1934. Children: Alvina M., Granthia, Norman.
