From the Middlebury College General Catalogue, 1950: son of Deane S. and Mary (Douglass) Bliss. Born in Colchester, VT, July 3, 1903. Prepared for college at Middlebury High School. Entered Middlebury College in 1919. Student, Harvard University, 1923-1924; 1927-1932. Proof reader, E.L. Hildreth and Co., Brattleboro, VT, 1924-1927. Publications Editor, Journal of American Chemical Society, 1927-1934. Instructor, Northeastern University and Harvard University, 1935-1938; Yale University, 1939-1941. Assistant Professor, Simmons College, 1941-. Married Emma F. Vaughan, September 18, 1934. Children: Eleanor S., Arthur V., Sarah D. and David T. (twins).
