Biographical / Historical

Newton Diehl Baker Jr. (1871-1937) was an American lawyer, politician, and government official. Baker served as the 37th mayor of Cleveland, Ohio from 1912-1915, and as United States Secretary of War from 1916 to 1921, during which time he headed the United States Army during World War I.
