Includes one holograph sonnet apparantly written by Joseph Battell, accompanied by a note signed Thos. E. Boyce and addressed to "Professor Owen." The note is dated December 13, 1938 and identifies the sonnet as Battell's.

Also includes two sketch books, presumably Battell's, containing holograph notes primarily concerning the sale of horses.
