The Abernethy manuscript miscellany collection is comprised of 19 boxes (18 regular and 1 oversize) organized alphabetically by author last name. This collection includes original manuscript and typescript letters and writings from American authors throughout the 19th and 21st centuries. Transcriptions of original manuscript letters are available for some items.

The first series contains four folders pertaining to general bookshop/publishing business or to Dike Blair. Two typescript letters written by Dike Blair. The first is addressed to "Mr. Meredith," is written on Vermont Books: Publishers letterhead stationery, and is dated October 1, 1983. The letter discusses Vermont author Walter Hard. The second letter is addressed to Ron Nief in Middlebury College Public Relations, is written under the Vermont Book Shop letterhead, and is dated October 6, 1983.
