Scope and Contents One holograph letter dated January 13, 1886 written by Mary Page Parr in Cook County, IL, and addressed to "My dear Friends." The letter discusses the Quitman School fire, and expresses the writer's dislike of the South and its abundant racism. Parr also mentions the American Missionary Association, of which she and her husband were likely members.

Scope and Contents Includes two handwritten letters sent by Reverend Charles D. Herbert from Parkville, MO, and Harmony Mission, MO to his mother and sister, Charlotte Herbert, in Ellsworth, ME. The 1846 letter includes a copy of a letter to Mrs. Morgan, dated November 12, 1846. The letters describe missionary life on the Missouri Frontier in the 1840s, whch includes various hardships such as ague, open cabins, and long rides on the prarie, as well as encounters with the Osage Indians.
